Today we will be diving deeper into the Reconstruction and Gilded Age time period by reading more about both of these eras. Once you click on each time period, please go to "Textbook" up at the top of the page to find more information and our individual readings.
As your group reads, please keep track of what events happened in your section that led to economic reform as well as the pros and cons of those events. We will share these notes with the rest of the class when everyone is ready.
Adding Details to Our Timeline
Please go to https://time.graphics/ and click on the icon of a person in the top right-hand corner. This will bring you to your profile. On this page you should see the link to your timeline we made last time. Please click on this timeline and click edit so that we can add more information to it.
Once you can edit your timeline, please add the following information to your timeline:
dates for the Gilded Age as a time period. The Gilded Age lasted from 1865-1913.
The function of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the constitution.
Next, please add at least 5 events that happened during this time (the events that we were just discussing after you read) to your timeline. Please include at least one pro and one con in your description. Example:
Event name: Building the Railroad
Description: The railroad led to the creation of timezones, the spread of different cultures throughout our country, the ability to travel across the continent within days, as well as created a push to use time efficiently. A pro of the railroad was that in created many jobs for civil war vets, freedmen, and immigrants. A con was there was a lot of bribery and racism that existed among the company executives.
