When keeping up with the news, it is extremely important to know that the information you are receiving is accurate and reliable. If your sources are not trustworthy, it is possible that you may be tricked by false information. However, every news article will have to pick and choose what information they can fit into the article. They decide what details of a current event are most important for their readers to know. And since every human thinks differently, every news article will have different details they have classified as "the most important". This difference of perspective between each news source creates a bias, which is discussed below. To make sure you are getting the facts you think are the most important to know, rather than what your newspaper is telling you, it is important to read news from more than one source.
Below are all of the sources that I trust the most when I read the news. Even though I trust these sources, it is still important to understand that they all have bias since accidental bias always occurs based on the author's perspective. It is important to know and recognize the bias of your sources so you can always read with an open mind and not become swayed by the opinions of your favorite newspapers.
