Last time we discussed the learning targets that we would be focused on throughout the rest of the year. The very first learning target we will focus on is:
Understands how society and events evolve through transformations and reforms
Our first topic we will discuss will be the history of Native Americans. Take a few minutes and write down as many questions as you can about Native Americans or Native American history. Throughout this unit, we will be trying to answer these questions.
We Shall Remain
Our goal for today is to be able to describe what life was like for Native Americans before and after contact with the European settlers. To discover these details, we will watch the first episode of a documentary called "We Shall Remain".
Before we watch the first episode of "We Shall Remain", we will fill out the first two columns of a KWL chart.
We will not get through this first episode today so we will stop it before the end of class so that we can answer the question: What was life like for the Wampanoag before the Europeans came?
This will be homework if it is not done in class.
